Hi, I am Melissa Matos and I hoard cute stuff. It began during my trip to Tokyo in 2009. The word cute, to me, means sassy and chic; something that makes you feel extra special. I found plenty of these items abroad and began hoarding these cute hair accessories in my room. 

I live in Manhattan so, naturally, I assumed I could find similar items right here in the city. My search was in vain. I did not feel like fetching a headband in a bin for $1 and watch it fall apart in front of my eyes. I would check out random boutiques and they would have great designer accessories. Unfortunately, these items were always too avant-garde and not accessible to the every day woman (or her wallet). That’s when I decided to set up shop. I already loved searching for these unique pieces all around the world and I am happy to bring them to you now.

Sproos was born in May 2011! It’s all about being practical and innovative. You shouldn’t have to buy a whole new outfit to feel you have variety in your wardrobe. Adding subtle or vibrant accessories to your clothes can make all the difference. We encourage you to be creative everyday!

A little about me…

I am a recent art school graduate living in New York City. You probably thought I was fashion major but cartooning majors, like myself, can like fashion too!  I always wanted to run my own business and am excited for what’s to come.
